About Us

The MV20/20 Ultrasonic Inclusion Detection System for molten metal is the result of more than 50 years of research and development.

The concept of using ultrasonics to detect particles in liquid metals originated during the early years of radar and sonar around World War II. Its inventor, the late “Monty” Mountford continued necessary research in the UK after World War II ended, garnering significant recognition along the way for his work.

Over the past 20 years, advances in modern computing provided the platform to make the MV20/20 a commercially viable technology. The necessary final and fundamental research and development was conducted in molten aluminum by “Monty” Mountford and Professor Ian Sommerville at the University of Toronto, Canada. A special thanks to Andec Manufacturing Ltd. of Toronto, Canada, www.andec.ca our partner and leader in non-destructive testing, without whose world-class expertise in ultrasonics, the MetalVision’s MV20/20 would not exist today.

Numerous papers have been published as a result of this research over the past decade. Recent TMS Papers illustrate the wide range of process evaluation afforded by MetalVision’s MV20/20. The MV20/20 equipment has been purchased by numerous North American and European customers.
